The Ellen Hermanson Foundation has committed at least $220,000 toward the purchase of a tomosynthesis 3D mammography system for Southampton Hospital. Breast tomosynthesis is not yet considered the standard of care for breast cancer screenings, but it is approved by the FDA, and the technology transcends the capabilities of traditional mammography.
