NewsletterNEW GRANT HONORS MEMORY OF POPULAR LAW PARTNER:

History was made on May 7, 2012 at the historic Upper East Side venue 583 Park Avenue, when the inaugural Maite Aquino Memorial Grant was awarded at the JALBCA annual dinner to Sullivan & Cromwell, LLP.  Ms. Aquino was a partner at Sullivan & Cromwell and had been known as a leading business litigator in New York and the nation. She lost her fight against breast cancer in June 2011, at the age of 42. The goal of the grant is to provide funds to community-based breast health programs, as well as programs that provide legal and social support to families in crisis.

In addition, the annual fundraising dinner raised enough money for 26 mammography vans to visit New York courthouses over the course of the year, thanks to the generosity of 20 sponsors. Seventeen donors stepped up to provide funds for individual mammograms.

Honorable Gail A. Prudenti, Chief Administrative Judge of the Courts of New York State, was presented with the Leadership Achievement Award. And of course, new JALBCA officers were installed at the event.
